The MX-5 was conceived as a small – with light weight and minimal mechanical complexity limited only by legal and safety requirements; technologically modern, but a philosophically direct descendant of the small British roadsters of the 1960s such as the , , and mainly the .The second generation MX-5 (NB) was launched in 1998 and the current (NC) model has been in production since 2006. It continues to be the best-selling two-seat convertible sports car in history and by February 2011 over 900,000 MX-5s had been built and sold around the world

The Low Country Miata Club was founded in 1991 by John Sheppard under charter from MCA with sponsorship from Rick Hendrix Mazda of Charleston as a way to get to know fellow Miata MX5 lovers in the Charleston area. We currently have 85 active members representing 59 Miatas.

We meet on the 1st Thurday of the month at Stokes Mazda in North Charleston for a business meeting followed by dinner at a local restraunt Annual dues are $24 a year per membership for both individuals and families. Memberships are per calendar year (Jan-Dec), the club dues will be prorated if you decide to join mid-year.

    • Side Dishes and Desserts (Members)
    • Covered Tables, Benches, Electricity and Water (Park)
  • Interpretive Center All-Day

(The area's history as far back as 4000 B.C., including the 1863 construction of the Little David, a semisubmersible Confederate torpedo boat used in the Civil War. The 11,000 sq. ft. facility houses the recreation of an oak bluff complete with the many types of animals you can expect to encounter in a cypress swamp. Two theatres offer informative films that highlight the area's historical and natural significance)

  • Recreation - All-Day

Four miles of boardwalk through backwaters and swamp for seeing flora, fauna, alligators, ducks, turtles, ospreys, and ferns/native vegetation.

  • Berkeley County Museum and Heritage Center - All-Day

the story of 12,000-year story of the region. Exhibits and artifacts focus on Brig. Gen. Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox), American Indians, Colonial life, the Civil War, early medicine, rural electrification, early education and the Francis Marion National Forest.

  • Stony Landing House – Tour available if no special event is scheduled.
